What To Expect

What To Expect During Your Breast Imaging Appointment

Your appointment will take approximately 30 minutes with one of our IACT accredited female technicians.

You will be asked to disrobe from the waist up in order to become acclimatised to the temperature of the procedure room.

After 15 minutes, the technician will take a series of images including front, lateral, and oblique views. The imaging taking itself only takes a couple of minutes.

You then will be asked to place your hands into cold water for 60 seconds. This is known as a stress test or "cold challenge". This causes normal blood vessels to contract and cool down, while blood vessels feeding abnormal cells will not. The technician will then repeat the process of taking the images for a before and after view.

Within a week your report will be back and a nurse will be in touch to discuss the results with you. These results can also be forwarded on to your preferred health practitioner.
